Preparing Cremated Remains for Your Crystal Remembrance

We understand this step requires great care. Follow these simple, legally compliant steps to safely and securely send the small portion of cremated remains needed for your Crystal Remembrance sculpture.

1. Measure the Required Amount

  • Small Amount Needed: For any piece in the Crystal Remembrance line, we require only a very small, level teaspoon of cremated remains (approximately 5-7 grams).

  • For Multiple Pieces: If you ordered more than one item, please measure out one level teaspoon for each piece ordered.

  • Rest Assured: Any unused material will be respectfully returned to you with your finished Crystal Remembrance product.

2. Select the Right Container

  • Primary Container: Place the measured remains into a small, sealable plastic bag (like a jewelry-sized Ziploc bag).

    • Crucially: Squeeze out all excess air and securely seal the bag.

  • Secondary Container: Place the sealed plastic bag inside a second, slightly larger plastic bag for double protection against leaks or damage.

3. Labeling and Identification (Mandatory)

This is the most important step for accurate processing:

  • Inside the Package: Place a piece of paper inside the package with the following information:

    • Your Full Name

    • Your Order Number (found in your confirmation email)

    • The Name of the Deceased (or pet)

  • External Labeling (Optional but Recommended): For your peace of mind, you may label the internal container with the name of the deceased.

4. Choose the Shipping Package

  • Use a Sturdy Box: Place the sealed containers inside a small, sturdy box (a small priority mail box or similar). Do not use an envelope or soft mailer.

  • Cushioning: Surround the containers with cushioning material (tissue paper, bubble wrap, or packing peanuts) to prevent shifting during transit. The package should feel secure and rigid.

5. Shipping Restrictions: Must Use USPS

By U.S. federal law, cremated remains may only be shipped via the United States Postal Service (USPS). You cannot use FedEx, UPS, or other carriers.

  • Visit a Post Office: You must take your sealed package to a physical USPS Post Office location.

  • Special Handling: Inform the clerk that the package contains cremated remains. The USPS requires the use of their Cremated Remains Label 139 and specific handling procedures.

  • Tracking: We highly recommend using a service with tracking and delivery confirmation (such as Priority Mail Express or Priority Mail) for security.

6. Send to Taglio Studios
